The Accommodation

We purchased Barlandue in October 2007 and spent the next few months doing it up. The rooms for the Bed & Breakfast were first to be finished and we opened for business in the Spring of 2008.

Each of the rooms we have named after a local village. The accommodation comprises of a double and a twin bedroom with a shared bathroom. Each bedroom has its own TV with freeview, tea and coffee making facilities and a sink.

There is also a lounge with views across the valley to the west. This doubles up as the dining room and breakfast will be served here. In June 2009 we added a deck area outside which visitors can access through french doors. There is also a fridge in the lounge, so you can keep your wine chilled, what more could you ask?

The rooms are in an annexe to the main house, which has its own entrance, so privacy is assured!

Barlandue is set in an acre of grounds. Most of this is a paddock, at present laid to grass, but we have great plans to create a memorable garden. This will take a few years, but with its stunning views across the fields, it would be difficult not to end up with something special. Guests are very welcome to enjoy the grounds. Secateurs will be provided on request!!

In August 2008 we bought half a dozen chickens. They have now settled in well and are laying some spectacular and tasty eggs.  These of course can be tasted at breakfast. The vegetable garden has increased in size this year (2009), with the addition of 5 raised beds (one of them on the site of the former greenhouse which was taken away by  our first winter storm!) , so if evening meals are taken, then you can be assured fresh home-grown veg.

Watch this space for further developments!
